Lewistown Mutual Insurance Company was established Dec. 7, 1898, by a group of Lewistown Township farmers to share the cost of fire losses to their properties.
Lewistown Mutual currently serves 14 counties: Adams, Brown, Cass, Fulton, Hancock, Knox, Mason, McDonough, Menard, Peoria, Schuyler, Stark, Tazewell, Warren, and is reinsured by Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. There are nine policyholders who serve as elected directors of the board.
